Hello, I am Kathleen Caywood, a retired software engineer, a dancer, a transwoman, and an author. It is because of my book that I have created this author platform.
My Book
The Lie That Stuck in My Throat: Faith, Marriage, and a Rose in December
This is my faith-inspired memoir of personal growth across eight decades — from a fearful, repressed crossdresser to a confident, post-operative transwoman who discovered her sexuality late in life while remaining married to the same woman for over fifty years. The central themes are faith, marriage, reclaiming my body, and the surprising possibilities of advanced age.
The manuscript is complete and I am currently seeking a publisher.
About the Author
Kathleen Caywood is a retired software engineer with degrees in English and Computer Science. Before retiring from a national media company as a database analyst, she taught computer science at a local university; worked for a contractor to a government lab in Hampton, Virginia; and was a network engineer at a small Internet service provider in Norfolk, Virginia. She crossdressed for over 45 years before finding inspiration to transition while attending New Life Metropolitan Community Church in Norfolk. She presented seminars at Fantasia Fair (now Transweek) in 2013, 2014, and 2015, and maintained her own blog on transgender topics from 2009 to 2015. She has been married to her wife Carolyn for over fifty years. The Lie That Stuck in My Throat is her first book.
